Captain Cline is mentioned in this article about his discovery of the Elizabeth lode, named after his wife, as of article in spring April 1874. In the article he claims his discovery of Gold lode Elizabeth in Fall of 1873. Cline would have been looking for gold as early as summer 1873, in the Uncompahgre.
